Registration

According to section No 17(1) of Meat Industry ACT 10 of 2006. No person shall carry on the business of a livestock producer,trader or livestock Marke operator without being a holder of valid registration certificate issued by the Board under this Act.

Purpose of Registration

The main purposes of registeringstackholders in meat industry are Identifying their roles in the meat industry, to facilitate stakeholders in production, processing, livestock business and their product, to supervise quality of livestock for Meat , Meat and meat products in order to meet market requirement for the purpose of bringing development in meat industry, increase income of stakeholders as well as national income.

Qualification for Registration

All stakeholders people ,working in the meat industry for the purpose of doing business.

Procedure for Registration

First you have to fill form number TMB FN.1and accompanied with two colored passport size and you have to pay a non-refenderable fee of two thousand Tanzanian shillings(2000TZS).

Inspection it has to be conducted in your business area, if you will meet requirement according to the law , you will be required to pay a fee for registration in order to be issued a certificate, as shown in table number 3

Registration benefits

To idenfify and certify you as a valid Stakeholder in the Meat industry

To have chance of been involved in planning development of meat industry.

To simplify availability of Markets for Livestock, Meat and Meat product

To simplify procedure of activities of developing Meat industry (Production of livestock,Meat and Meat product

To supervise quality and safety of meat and meat product for benefit of consumer Health.

To make sure that the availability of skills and

To have good communication of business related information among stakeholders in the meat industry in order to understand market demands and how to meet demands.

To have good environment and fair competition and recognition and acceptance of your product in the market.

Disadvantages of not registering

You will not be accepted to be one of stakeholders in the meat industry and it will stop you to do business in the meat industry , this includes stoped to do livestock keeping of Animal for purpose of meat business, not able to sale livestock for meat production, stoped to continue with any activities of livestock market, slaughtering,processing and conducting any activities of association for stakeholders

Validation of certificate

Certificate shall be valid for one year and shall be renewable on payment of the prescribed fee

The board may, if the registered person fails to comply with the terms and condition of the registration, revoke or suspend the registration

Note:

Large Scale Farm means a farm raising more than 300 heads of Beef Cattle or more than 500 Goats, or more than 500 Goats, or more than 500 Sheep, or more than 500 pigs or more than 10,000 poultry per year.

Medium scale farm means a farm raising raising between 50 to 299 heads of beef Cattle, or 300 to 499 goats, or 300 to 499 Sheep, or 100 to 499 pigs, or 1,000 to 9,999 poultry per year.

Small Scale farm means a farm raising between 5 to 49 heads of beef Cattle, or 20 to 299 Goats, or 20 to 299 Sheep, or 15 to 99 pigs or 400 to 999 poultry per year.

Subsistence farm means a farm raising less than 5 heads of Beef catlle, or less then 20 goats, or less than 20 Sheep, or less than 15 pigs, or less than 400 poultry per year .

A farm with a combination of more than one livestock species will pay fees of the most represented specie.
